Независимая бухгалтерская организация, аналогичная Институту присяжных бухгалтеров Англии и Уэльса (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales - ICAEW), охватывающая своей деятельностью Шотландию. Была сформирована в 1951 г. путем объединения трех обществ, создание которых датировалось 1854, 1855 и 1867 гг., и является, таким образом, самой древней в мире профессиональной бухгалтерской организацией. Все члены института имеют титул (СА) и не делятся на Ассоциированных (АСА) и Полноправных членов (FCA) института
